Rings of pain, literally

KUALA LUMPUR: A man had to bear excruciating pain for more than three hours when the Seri Andalas Fire and Rescue Department personnel cut off eight rings on his fingers which he has been wearing for a long time.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operation assistant director Hafisham Mohd Noor said the department received a call to cut off the rings from the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) at 3.56am today.

"When they arrived at the location, the hospital informed the department that there were 8 rings on both of the 41-year-old man's fingers.

"The man's fingers were already bloodied and the personnel immediately cut off the rings.

"The personnel had to cut the rings using a special tool and it took more than 3 hours to get the rings off the man's fingers," he said when contacted.

Hafisham said the hospital had to call the department for help as they did not have the suitable tools.

"The department was made to understand that the victim was a homeless person and the public brought him to the hospital for that purpose," he said.
