177 educational institutions in Seremban ordered to close tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 177 educational institutions in Seremban have been ordered to close beginning tomorrow until Nov 9, after the district was declared a Covid-19 red zone by the Health Ministry.

The Education Ministry in a statement today said the closure encompassed all government primary and secondary schools, private schools registered with the ministry and teacher education institutes.

"Parents or guardians are required to bring their children or charges home. (Boarding) students who are waiting to be picked up by their parents or wish to continue staying at the schools and institutions dormitories or throughout the closure period will be under the care of the school wardens.

"Their meals throughout the period will be cared for by the respective school and institution."

The ministry said for students sitting for international examinations scheduled during the closure, they must obtain a letter from their respective schools to do so.

The ministry said during this period, school administrators, as well as all educational institutions, were instructed to ensure the teachers, as well as students, continue their studies at home.

"Teaching and home-study manuals can be downloaded from the ministry's official website at www.moe.gov.my (http://www.moe.gov.my/).

"In this matter, the ministry is always monitoring the Covid-19 situation nationwide and is working closely with the National Security Council as well as the Health Ministry."
