KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's maritime community has been advised to prioritise safety due to dangers posed by tropical typhoons Saudel and Molave.
Sabah Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) said the typhoons were coming from southwest Manila with an average speed of 139kph.
The typhoons would pose danger to fishing, shipping and coastal activities.
"Since Oct 26, Sabah has been affected by the Molave typhoon which was reported to be at 703km off southwest Kudat.
"Such a situation has led to warnings of strong winds and rough seas with waves reaching up to 3.5m in the west coast of Sabah and Labuan," MMEA said in a statement.
It also reminded the maritime community to be alert on weather updates.
"They need to keep safety measures in check, especially for the fishermen. They must always wear life jackets, equip their vessels with lifebuoys, honks, whistles and location detection tools.
"Please ensure the boats and ferries are in good condition before heading out to sea."
