KAMPAR: The identities of three people who were killed in an accident at KM10 of Jalan Kota Bharu - Malim Nawar here last night have been identified.
They were the driver of the trailer lorry, Hafize Nizam Ali Supian, 30 and his two sons; Mohammad Afeef Rafiqie, 9 and Arrian Nuh, 6 from Langkap, Teluk Intan.
Kampar district police chief Superintendent Hasron Nazri Hashim said the trailer lorry was heading to Melaka after loading the vehicle with cement at a factory in Gopeng, here.
Initial investigation revealed that the driver had lost control of the vehicle upon approaching a steep narrow road causing it to turn turtle after hitting a utility
pole, Hasron Nazri told reporters when met at the Kampar Hospital's Forensic Unit, here, today.
He added that it took about five hours to extricate the victims who were pinned to their seats.
All three were killed on the spot due to severe injuries during the 10pm incident.
Earlier, a Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said a distress call was placed at 10.28pm last night before firemen from Gopeng and Kampar rushed to the scene.
The spokesperson added that firemen had to use a crane as well as an excavator to extricate the bodies.
