Policeman dies while undergoing Covid-19 home-quarantine

KUALA LUMPUR: A 53-year-old Sergeant attached with Klang Selatan district police headquarters died yesterday (Jan 27) while undergoing home quarantine after he was tested positive for Covid-19.

Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsul Amar Ramli said the escort personnel died at his house in Klang at 8.29pm.

"He was tested for Covid-19 test on Jan 22 as he had fever and test results came back positive for the virus. The second test conducted the next day (Jan 23) was also positive.

"He was subsequently quarantined at home from Jan 22 and the period was supposed to end on Feb 1. However, he died at home yesterday evening," said Amar in a statement today.

The personnel leaves behind a wife and five children.

Amar said the body of the personnel was brought to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital where medical officer Dr Tian Pei Xuan classified his cause of death as a result of Covid-19.

"He was buried at the Sungai Sireh Muslim Burial Ground here at 5.45pm," he said.
