KUALA LUMPUR: The total number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia has breached the 300,000 mark after 2,437 new infections were recorded today.
Overall infections now stand at 300,752, of which 26,205 are active cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in sharing the number of new cases recorded today, said only two were imported.
Of the 2,435 local transmissions, 1,226 involved Malaysians and 1,209 comprised non-citizens.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,251 recoveries from the coronavirus was reported today, taking the toll to 273,417.
Currently, 202 cases were being treated at intensive care units where 93 of them required the aid of ventilators.
Nine fatalities, involving eight Malaysians and one non-citizen, were reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre as of noon today.
