Harussani's death 'a great loss'

IPOH: The death of Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria today is a great loss to the country and the people.

Deputy Perak Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim said the late Harussani had actively provided his views and insights to spreading the message of Islam.

"This is a great loss not only to the state but also to the country. Not only us who feel his loss but every Muslim in this country.

"To me, he was known as a disciplined and strict person, he loved to spread the beauty of Islam," he said when met after the funeral.

Harussani was laid to rest at the Kampung Rapat Jaya Muslim Cemetery here at 6.20pm today.

Harussani, 82, died of Covid-19 at 2.45 today at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here.

Zamri said he last met Harussani when he was still at his home but he didn't manage to visit him at the hospital due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) standard operating procedure.

"The last time I met him was at his home. But once his condition deteriorated, I didn't get to visit him at the hospital due to the SOP.

Meanwhile, attempt to get Harussani's family proved futile.

"Give us time," said one of the family members who attended the funeral.

He leaves behind wife, Puan Seri Abdul Ghani and four children.
