KUALA LUMPUR: All civil servants will work from home (WFH) from June 1 during the latest Movement Control Order (MCO) 4.0.
The WFH order is not applicable to those in the frontlines, safety, defense and enforcement services in the government.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said the WFH order is to lessen the individuals having face to face contact to curb the Covid-19 infection.
"All meetings and discussions must be held online through a safe and secure medium.
"No meet ups or physical activities allowed.
"Services at counters are closed and all will be carried out online except for counters for health, police, international entry points for customs checks, immigration and quarantine," he said in a statement today.
Civil servants are reminded not to carry out personal duties during work time as per Service Circular No 5/2020: WFH policy.
He said any misconduct in compliance with the working from home, shall be subject to disciplinary action under P.U. (A) 395 - Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.
He also said that civil servants may work at the office for duties they are unable to be fulfill at home, with attendance of not more than 20 per cent.
Among the duties allowed for civil servants to attend to at offices are contract, invoice or salary payments, payments and distributions of monthly and periodically aid to people, maintenance and safety of premises, technical management of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for system and online maintenance services and documents preparation involving Cabinet ministers. The staff rotation is maximum four hours.
The attendance at offices must be with official instruction documents and work passes, he said.
He said that monitoring will be done from time to time and action will be taken for any non-compliance.
"Any exemption of orders must obtain approval from the Chief Secretary's office," he added.
