Man collapses and dies after jogging at Likas car park

KOTA KINABALU: A 55-year-old man collapsed and died after jogging at the car park of the Likas Sports Complex, here this morning.

The victim, identified as Hasmin Usup, was jogging in the area at 6.30am before he collapsed.

Others in the area who noticed him collapsing immediately contacted the MERS 999 emergency hotline.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said paramedics from the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital (HQEII) arrived on the scene not long after.

After checking Hasmin, they pronounced him dead.

"Investigations at the scene suggested no criminal elements. The victim's body was referred to the HQE 1 Forensic Department where a Covid-19 test will be performed, followed by an autopsy to determine the cause of death," said Zaidi.

He said the case has been classified as sudden death.
