IPOH: Rescuers have located the second vehicle, a Toyota Vellfire, buried underneath debris following a landslide at FT185 of Jalan Simpang Pulai - Blue Valley in Simpang Pulai here today.
It is understood that the MPV was found some 10 to 20 metres away from a lorry, which was the first vehicle to be unearthed by the search and rescue team.
A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they had yet to establish how many people were in the Vellfire, as well as what their conditions are.
Rescuers are using excavators to clear the soil.
Police had earlier confirmed that they have determined the identity of the lorry driver who was trapped in his vehicle.
However, they have yet to announce whether the lorry driver, Muhammad Hafiz Hamdi of Tanjung Piandang in Kerian, survived the incident.
The landslide is believed to have occurred at about 1.30pm following heavy rain, which loosened the soil.
Debris from the landslide covered a 100-metre stretch and blanketed both sides of the road, rendering it impassable for vehicles at the moment.
Perak Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun said the Public Works Department (PWD) was monitoring the situation.
