Takaful Malaysia donates dialysis machine

KEPALA BATAS: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad (STMKB), better known as Takaful Malaysia, has donated a dialysis machine to Masjid At-Taqwa's Haemodialysis Centre (MAHC) here to cope with the increasing number of patients receiving treatment at the community dialysis centre.

STMKB Group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohamed Hassan Kamil said they decided to donate the dialysis machine after realising that MAHC truly needed it to help kidney patients.

"This donation is timely given the increasing number of patients undergoing treatment at the centre.

"We truly understand that medical costs have increased over the years and getting dialysis treatment is costly," he said after handing over the dialysis machine to Masjid At-Taqwa deputy chairman Ismail Mohammad after Friday prayers yesterday.

The event was graced by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak. Present were Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, who is also Masjid At-Taqwa chairman, and Media Prima Berhad group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid.

Mohamed Hassan hoped that the donation would assist MAHC in providing dialysis treatment to patients, especially those from low-income families, regardless of their background and religion.

"With the donation of the dialysis machine, we want to boost MAHC's efforts in helping underprivileged kidney patients get treatment and improve their ability to participate in community development."

Ismail said the haemodialysis machine donated by Takaful Malaysia was of high quality with full functions for haemodialysis therapy and fast preparation, reduced disinfection time, fast bicarbonate cartridge drain, automatic blood pressure monitor and central delivery of acid concentrates.

"We are grateful to Takaful Malaysia for its generosity and support in donating the dialysis machine, which will enable more kidney patients to receive free dialysis treatment at MAHC. We hope more corporate companies will come forward and provide similar aid as there is an increasing number of kidney patients in need of dialysis treatment."
