40 participants receive kitchen kits to help plant vegetables

KOTA BARU: Forty participants of the fertilizer 'Green Kitchen' programme today received a kitchen kit each to help in their farming projects.

The 40, mostly housewives, are all from the Bunut Payong state seat.

They received the kit from the state Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology, Green Technology and Environment Committee chairman Tuan Mohd Saripudin Tuan Ismail in a simple ceremony here.

Saripudin said the kit includes vegetable seeds, fertilizer and poly bags for plants.

"The green kitchen programme is an annual programme and has been implemented in all the 45 state seats.

"Every state seat, is required to select 40 participants and they will be given the kitchen kit for farming," he told reporters after handing over the kitchen kit.

Mohd Saripudin said the seeds of various vegetable types, can help participants in saving their daily expenses.

"Many could not afford to buy vegetables with the current prices in the market of late.

"By planting their vegetable, it will save them a lot of many and even they can earn some income by selling the vegetables to others," he added.

He said the majority of the participants planted the vegetables on their land.
