GUA MUSANG: An Orang Asli man was mauled to death by a tiger in Kampung Sau near Pos Bihai, here, today.
District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the victim was identified as Anek Along, 59.
He said police received a report on the incident about 1.30pm and immediately deployed a team to the Orang Asli settlement.
"The victim's daughter told police she realised her father was missing about 9.10am and immediately went to search for him.
"The daughter informed other villagers that she had found traces of blood on the ground at the back of her house.
"They later discovered the man dead, with injuries all over his head and body," he added.
Sik said the body was later sent to Gua Musang Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Wildlife and National Parks director Mohamad Hafid Rohani said the male tiger responsible for the attack was shot dead by the department's rangers about noon.
He said the carcass of the three-year-old tiger weighing about 120kg would be sent to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre for further action.
