LANGKAWI: The return of Mahsuri's seventh-generation descendant, Wan Aishah Wan Nawawi, 37, and her eighth-generation descendant son to Langkawi has generated a lot of buzz on the island.
Aishah, also identified as her Thai name Sirintra Yayee or Nong May, with her husband, Alee Tongyon, 39, and son was on a two-day vacation on the island last Thursday.
Born in 1986, Aishah is currently residing in Phuket, Thailand.
She is believed to have ended the curse on Mahsuri's seventh-generation descendants in Langkawi, when the island received its duty-free status.
Family videos and photos of Aishah have also been posted by social media users and tourism centres since yesterday.
Among them was a 23-second video uploaded by Mior Johan, 32, a restaurant owner in Pantai Chenang via his TikTok account (@miorjohan) when the family visited the restaurant.
Mior said he had known Aishah since 2013 and that the seventh-generation descendant of Mahsuri came to the island for a holiday last Thursday.
"My in-laws know Aishah's family in Phuket, Thailand. Aishah and her husband have come to Langkawi many times before.
"This time around, it is quite special as she came with her husband and six-year-old son Mateen," he said when contacted.
Mior said other than visiting his restaurant, Aishah and her family also visited a few tourist spots including Underwater World Langkawi, Makam Mahsuri and went on a sunset cruise.
A check on Facebook found that Aishah, under the account name Nu May, has shared photos of the Saturday cruise ride.
Underwater World Langkawi through its official Facebook account also uploaded a 17-second video of Aishah with her husband and son at the popular tourist attraction.
