LANGKAWI: A man, who went missing while collecting mussels in the waters near Kampung Bukit Malut here yesterday evening, was found drowned today.
The body of Shaarani Ghazali, 32, was discovered by a passer-by this morning, about 10m from where he was last seen.
Langkawi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said Shaarani's body was found floating, wearing a pair of black trousers.
"The victim's brother, Saodi, identified the body and medical responders, who went to the scene confirmed the victim's death.
"The victim, known to have a history of epilepsy, reportedly left home about 7pm yesterday, believed to be going out to search for mussel, which is his usual routine," he said in a statement.
Shariman said police had ruled out elements of foul-play and the body was sent to Sultanah Maliha Hospital for a post-mortem.
The case is classified as sudden death pending post-mortem results.
