KUALA LUMPUR: A fire broke out on the 37th floor of the Platinum Arena condominium construction site at Jalan Klang Lama this afternoon, but no casualties were reported.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received an emergency call at 1.50pm of a fire at a construction site and rushed to the scene.
"Upon arriving at the scene the firemen noticed that fire had been doused by the workers using a fire extinguisher," he said.
He said checks showed that a stack of plantercell cement had caught fire on the top most floor of the condominium which was still under construction.
"The stack which was 10 feet x 20 feet in size was 50 per cent burnt when firemen arrived and it was completely doused by 2.19pm," he said.
The spokesman said the operation was led by PB Mohd Faizul Nizam Deraman with help from Bukit Jalil and Seputeh stations.
"Fifteen firemen, two fire engines, a FRT crane and one EMRS were involved in the operation. No one was injured in the incident," he said.
