ALOR SETAR: The number of Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) 2021 candidates in Kedah that passed the exam decreased slightly from 98.96 per cent or 3,036 candidates in 2020, to 98.92 per cent or 2,563 in 2021.
Kedah education director Rozaini Ahmad said the overall result saw a decrease of 0.04 per cent, but it exceeded the national full pass percentage set at 98.63 per cent.
He said as many as 40 examination centres or schools managed to achieve 100 per cent passes compared with 41 examination centres with the same achievement in STPM 2020, which is a decrease of 4.01 per cent.
"Overall, the achievement of the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) for Kedah in STPM 2021 has increased by 0.01 per cent, which is 2.85 compared with 2.84 in 2020. This achievement also successfully surpassed the national level achievement by 0.06 (the national cumulative grade point average is 2.79).
"A total 58 STPM 2021 candidates obtained a CGPA of 4.00 from 25 examination centres compared with 57 candidates in 2020, which is an increase of 0.38 per cent," he said here today.
Rozaini said a total 2,596 candidates sat for STPM 2021, of which 2,591 were from public schools.
"Overall, for Kedah, 21 out of 23 subjects are offered in the STPM 2021 exam, as many as nine subjects have improved performances while 12 have decreased compared with STPM 2020 results.
"A total 13 examination centres recorded excellent results by receiving CGPA of 3.0 and above. Congratulations to all the students who succeeded in STPM 2021," he added.
