69 complaints on bullying in schools received through Aduan Buli portal

SUNGAI SIPUT: The Education Ministry has received 69 complaints on bullying in schools through the Aduan Buli portal since it was launched on Aug 18.

Its minister, Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, said the number of reports showed the effectiveness of the portal (https://www.moe.gov.my/aduanbuli) in communicating efforts to overcome cases of bullying in schools.

"Through the Public Complaints Management System (SISPA) we have received 28 complaints and one has been resolved.

"There were also two via email, seven via landline, 10 from mobile phone calls and 22 via WhatsApp application," he told a press conference today after attending talks with the Orang Asli community here.

Radzi said the portal had provided a solution for parents who did not want to confront matters directly with school administrators.

"Previously, there were parents who said that they were not comfortable lodging complaints at schools. Some were afraid that the complaints would be swept under the carpet.

"The portal provides confidentiality and information safe. We do not want the children involved to be further affected by such cases."

He said the ministry did not set a timeline in resolving a case.

"There are cases that can be resolved immediately, those that will need in-depth investigations and others that involve the police."
