GOPENG: All 30 people who were trapped in Gua Tempurung while filming a Hong Kong-produced movie have been rescued.
A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they were alerted to the incident at 4.04pm.
"Teams of firemen from Gopeng and Kampar were despatched to the scene.
"There were 30 people trapped in the cave while filming a movie when heavy rains made the main entrance impassable," he said, adding that all the victims were safely rescued at 5.45pm.
He added that no injuries were reported and they were all safe and sound.
It was learnt that they were filming a Hong Kong-produced movie in the cave when the incident occurred at 4pm.
District police chief Superintendent Mohamad Nazri Daud said the heavy downpour started at 3pm today.
Gua Tempurung is known as one of the longest and largest limestone caves in Peninsular Malaysia.
