KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has identified potential new road corridors that will connect different highways to allow motorists to bypass the city traffic under the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Master Plan 2040 (PITKL2040)
Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah said among the proposals in the plan included KL Northern Dispersal Expressway (KL-Node), Duta Ulu Kelang Expressway 2A (Duke 2A) and New Pantai Expressway phase 2 (NPE 2).
"Currently the highways are not interconnected.
"For example, those coming from NPE will have to first enter Jalan Bangsar if they wish to drive north and enter the North-South Expressway.
"The proposed concept, however, is subject to government policies and needs at the time," he said at a press conference after the launch of PITKL2040 at Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) today.
DBKL, he said, has identified 50 missing links and nine roads in need of upgrading, with details of the projects to be available after due process including planning and tendering.
The nine roads to be upgraded are Jalan Sentul Pasar, Jalan 5/51f, Jalan Dutamas 2, Jalan Segambut Dalam, Jalan Duta Kiara, Jalan Hj Hamzah, Jalan Palimbayan, Jalan Sri Penchala and Jalan Semarak Api 4.
Meanwhile, new roads will be built at some of the missing links including different exits from Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), as well as DUKE, NKVE and Sprint highways.
