KUALA LUMPUR: The four-day Improving Connectivity in the Central Forest Spine (IC-CFS) Serangkai: Ekspresi Hubungan Insan dan Alam exhibition last week ended on a high note.
The event, which unites environmentalists around the country, has been successful in raising awareness among the people, especially the youth, on the need to protect and conserving the Central Forest Spine.
Visitors were given the insight and learned how to cultivate trees, attended panel discussions. There were also activities dedicated for children such colouring and jigsaw puzzle activities as well as nature-themed short film screenings.
A mocktail vendor, Haswira Aiman Hassan Merican, 29, said the turnout at the event was overwhelming, with families flocking in droves to the exhibition.
He expressed gratitude for being a part of the programme as it features various family activities and informative booths, as well as an increasing number of mocktail customers.
Rebecca Yau Yi Mun, 42, an upcycle arts and craft vendor called EKHA Langkawi, encourages the youth to continue learning about the stability of the weather, forest, and human well-being as they are interrelated.
She added that migrating to Langkawi taught her the value of protecting the environment while educating her 6-year-old daughter by living away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Joining the venture with the event, Tempatan Fest project manager Mohd Nasir Abdul Rashid said that such a serious issue like IC-CFS needs a touch of art to draw Malaysians in.
All ages, especially kids, may benefit from learning about forest preservation and loving Mother Nature through various activities and performances pulled over the past four days.
