Tanjong Karang flood forces residents to temporary relief centres

TANJONG KARANG: At least nine victims from three families in Kampung Sungai Sireh were evacuated to relief centres last night after flood waters entered their homes.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said his men received a distress call over the floods, which was caused by continuous heavy rain, at 8.26pm.

Norazamn said seven Tanjong Karang firemen and a fire engine were immediately deployed to the scene.

"Based on initial investigations, four locations, Lorong 14, 15, 18 and 19, were identified as affected by the floods.

"The flood water level (at the time) was 0.3m," he said when contacted.

All of the victims were relocated to SK Sungai Sireh.

Several areas in Klang and Shah Alam have been reported experiencing flash floods following continuous heavy rain and clogged drainage.

Three flood relief centres had been opened since at SK Kampung Johan Setia, SK Sungai Binjai dan Al Falah Kampung Budiman Mosque.
