BENTONG: The body of a 16-year-old who was feared to have drowned after being reported missing at Sungai Kemasul here last night was found today.
The body of Muhammad Firdaus Yusri, from Felda Kemasul, Chemomoi, Karak, was found at around 3.50pm after a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation resumed this morning.
Operation officer Hamzah Aziz said that they found the teen's body some 10 metres from the location where the boy is believed to have fallen into the river which is about 3 metres deep.
Hamzah said the deceased was said to have been fishing alone at the location yesterday evening and is believed to have fallen into the river at around 9pm.
Following this, Hamzah said 15 firemen and three fire engines from the Karak Rescue and Fire Services Department station rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call on the missing teen.
"Upon arriving at the location, the firemen found a motorcycle and fishing equipment believed to belong to the deceased at the scene.
"The team then proceeded to carry out SAR efforts on land and by the side of the river as well as the surrounding area, and the operation resumed this morning until the body was found," he said.
