Stall offers 'Anwar Ibrahim, Anthony Loke' sets for Menu Rahmah

CYBERJAYA: An enterprising stall owner has taken an unusual route to promote the Menu Rahmah, by using the names of the country's top ministers for his budget-friendly meal sets.

Warong Pecel Lele at Medan Selera TS Sport Arena here, has named their set meals after politicians such as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, better known as Mat Sabu.

Anwar has the honour of having his name used for Monday's meal set, followed by Mohamad on Tuesday, Anthony Loke (Wednesday); Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub (Thursday); Rafizi Ramli (Friday); and Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (Saturday).

The prime minister's set comprises white rice, chicken curry, long beans and sambal, or 'soto ayam'.

Mat Sabu's set, meanwhile, has white rice, ayam masak merah, beansprout and sambal, or 'lontong sayur'.

Transport Minister Loke has his name attached to a meal comprising pecel ayam or gado gado, while the set for Rafizi, who is Economy Minister, has white rice, chicken kurma, mixed vegetables and sambal or chicken noodles.

Law and Reform Minister Azalina was also not spared, with her set made up of white rice, ayam masak merah, spinach and sambal.

Stall owner Muhammad Syafiq Saifullah, 21, said it was their way of showing support for the Menu Rahmah initiative, which aims to provide cheap meals at RM5 and below for Malaysians.

"When the government announced the Menu Rahmah, we decided to join. We thought it would be a good way to help the people save on food costs.

"We have a wide variety of sets and it's not just limited to one menu. Naming it after ministers was just to add some flourish to it," he said.

He said response has been good since they launched their Menu Rahmah.

Meanwhile, a customer, Shazlien Adnan, 26, said he was impressed by the variety of food offered under the Menu Rahmah.

"For RM5, this is worth the money. Previously, each meal would cost me up to RM10. Now, I can eat twice for that amount," he said.
