KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman's Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has been appointed the new Federal Criminal Investigations Department director.
Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin, in a statement today, said the appointment is effective on April 16.
The post was currently held by Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hassan.
Ayob Khan was appointed the NCID director in January last year and under his leadership, the department has crippled many drug syndicates, once said to be 'untouchable'.
Before that, the 57-year-old was appointed the Johor police chief in March 2020.
Ayob Khan had served as the Special Branch Counter-Terrorism (E8) principal assistant director for many years, before the shifts.
During his tenure at E8, he saw much success in crippling the domestic terrorism activities of Islamic State militants and other militant groups threatening to the country.
