Woman killed, younger brother injured as m-cycle crashes into road barrier on Karak highway

BENTONG: A woman was killed and her younger brother seriously injured when the motorcycle they were on crashed into the road safety barrier at Km53.7 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway yesterday.

District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the incident occurred about 5.30pm as the siblings were on their way from Kuala Lumpur to Raub.

He said initial investigations showed that 22-year-old Farah Amira Samsuri was riding the motorcycle while her brother, 15, was riding pillion.

"Our investigations found that the woman lost control of the motorcycle at a bend and crashed into the safety barrier on the left side of the expressway. Farah Amira died at the scene of the crash while her brother was seriously injured and rushed to the Bentong Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement.

Zaiham urged anyone with information on the case to come forward to assist investigations into the incident.

He also reminded motorists to be cautious when driving and ensure their vehicles were in good condition.
