KUALA LUMPUR: The unity government has selected the Malaysia Madani logo as the official emblem for this year's National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 celebrations.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil also launched the theme 'Malaysia Madani, Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan' for the celebration, at Esplanade near Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) here today.
The unveiling of the logo and theme took place concurrently at 1Borneo Hypermall in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and Mydin Petra Jaya in Kuching, Sarawak earlier today.
"This year, Malaysia has reached 66 years of independence, liberating us from 'penjajah' (colonial rule) and fostering peaceful coexistence among people of diverse races and religions in our blessed land.
"Indeed, Malaysia's independence is for all people.
"It is crucial for people to grasp the true significance of independence for everyone," he emphasised during his speech today.
Also present was Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching.
He also announced that the Merdeka Month launching ceremony and Flying of the Jalur Gemilang flag 2023 will be held at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah in Ipoh, Perak on July 15.
The National Day celebration will be held in grand manner at Putrajaya on Aug 31 and Malaysia Day at Kuching, Sarawak on Sept 16.
Meanwhile, Fahmi also said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to make several announcements for the media fraternity at National Journalists' Day 2023 (Hawana 2023) in Ipoh tomorrow (May 28).
He said that Anwar will make the announcements during his keynote speech.
"The announcement could be about Media Council, and also about the welfare of the media personnel," he added.
