KOTA BARU: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is expected to contest six of the 45 seats in the upcoming Kelantan state election.
Kelantan Amanah chairman Muhammad Husain said: "So far, it has been confirmed that we (state Amanah) will be contesting in the six seats.
"But we might be getting one more seat as the discussion is still on."
Muhammad, however, declined to disclose the seats that would be contested by Amanah.
"Kindly be patient and wait for the announcement by the party leadership. It will be made soon," he said.
It is learnt that among the six seats Amanah is confirmed to contest in is the Kota Lama seat, which is a Pas stronghold.
Yesterday, Amanah leadership council committee member Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah said Pakatan Harapan (PH) would be fielding a candidate from the coalition in Kota Lama.
He said this had been agreed upon during its recent meeting with the state Barisan Nasional (BN).
However, he added, PH has yet to decide which party would be fielding its candidate in that seat and would wait for the PH presidential council to make the decision.
Kota Lama is among three state seats under the Kota Baru parliamentary constituency, the other two being Tanjong Mas and Bunut Payong.
In the 14th general election, Pas won 37 of the 45 state seats in Kelantan, with BN taking seven and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia winning one.
