Mahdzir Khalid casts vote, expresses satisfaction with polling process

PADANG TERAP: Kedah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid fulfilled his voting obligation in the state elections at SK Naka at 9.50am here today.

Clad in a blue and red batik shirt, Mahdzir arrived at 9.25am accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Noraini Abdullah, dressed in the same colours and also voting at the same polling centre.

Mahdzir said he was satisfied with the Election Commission's (EC) procedures for the polling process within the constituency this morning.

"Alhamdulillah, the weather is also good, and I've been informed that people started lining up before 8am.

"I am satisfied with the voting process today. The voting channels for senior citizens are also located on the ground floor, making it easier for them to vote," he said after casting his ballot papers.

Mahdzir expressed his gratitude that the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional coalition's campaign throughout the 14-day campaign period proceeded without any unfortunate incidents.

He also expressed confidence that Kedahans would be able to make the calculated decision to vote for PH-BN in today's polls.

"We have worked day and night, and we have made sincere efforts to give confidence to voters that BN and PH are a united coalition that can make a positive effort to help the people in the state," he added.

Mahdzir will attempt to wrest the Pedu state seat from Perikatan Nasional's Mohd Radzi Md Amin in a straight fight in today's polls.

A total of 28,586 eligible voters will cast their votes in the Pedu constituency across 51 polling channels.

In the 14th General Election (GE14), Mohd Radzi secured the Pedu state in the polls by defeating BN candidate Kama Noriah Ibrahim and PKR candidate Hashim Idris with a majority of 670 votes.
