KUALA LUMPUR: A car driver from a road rage incident on Jalan Syed Putra has been detained earlier today.
The incident was caught on camera and has since gone viral.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said that the 26-year-old was detained earlier today at 3pm.
"During the incident on Aug 20 at about 9.19am, the man driving the car was seen driving dangerously and switched to the middle lane before braking suddenly, resulting in the motorcyclist hitting him from behind.
"He was heading towards Mid Valley from the city centre, " he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
New Straits Times reported a viral video showing dramatic scenes of road rage unfolding on Jalan Syed Putra near the Federal Highway yesterday morning.
The video shared by Huey Tze Lai on her Facebook yesterday, recorded by a dash camera following the events, began with a motorcyclist in an all black attire attempting to engage with the driver of a silver car on his left, gesturing in a hostile manner and deliberately slowing down by the side of the car.
About 10 seconds later, as the silver car surged forward, it abruptly switched lanes, cutting in front of the motorcyclist in a heart-stopping manner, leaving the motorcyclist in its wake.
The motorcyclist had no time to prevent colliding with the rear of the silver car when it abruptly stopped in the middle of the road.
