Political secretaries call for Putrajaya MP to be suspended from parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: All political secretaries to the unity government ministers are calling for Putrajaya member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin to be barred from the parliament.

Prime Minister's senior political secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin said that Radzi crossed the line when he deliberately attacked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said that Radzi also fiercely defied the ruling by the Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul before which ended in him being ejected from Dewan Rakyat.

"There is a precedent to this, our Prime Minister who was the then opposition leader was barred in the issue about APCO.

"That is why we are now writing to the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, to call for his suspension.

"We will write to the minister to suggest our position over the matter," he said when contacted today.

When presenting about discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) in parliament during a special sitting held recently, Anwar alluded that Radzi was used to 'corrupt practices' done during the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration previously.

Following this, Radzi requested Anwar to withdraw the statement and cited Standing Order 36(6) of the House for having ill intention.

The uproar also led to heated arguments among the PN MPs, who urged the Speaker to call Anwar to retract his statement.
