2024 Budget: RM300mil allocated to Nadma for flood preparation

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will allocate RM300 million to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) for flood preparation.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister said this included RM100 million that would be distributed immediately using the 2023 allocation to ensure the flood preparations go smoothly at the end of the year.

"Nadma will also improve the evacuation centres to ensure the welfare of the victims.

"These include providing nine permanent transfer centres, refurbishing toilets, bathrooms and stores in 1,500 temporary transfer centres, and renting mobile toilets," he said while tabling the 2024 Budget in Dewan Rakyat today.

Anwar said the government would also provide another RM5 million to improve the facilities and medical treatment for the fire and rescue departments of K9 dogs and increase the number of K9 detection dogs for the fire, police and customs.
