SUNGAI BULOH: The remains of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin was laid to rest at the Seksyen 9 Muslim cemetery in Kota Damansara this evening.
His remains were released from the Sungai Buloh Hospital's Forensic Department at 5.55pm after the post-mortem examination was concluded.
The body was then brought to the Damansara Damai mosque for 'solat jenazah'.
Zayn Rayyan's parents, Ismanira Abdul Manaf and Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, both 28, had accompanied their son in the hearse to the mosque.
Zayn Rayyan, who was reported missing since Tuesday afternoon, was found dead in a stream about 200 metres from his home at Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai at 10pm yesterday, by a group of residents who had assisted in the search operations.
Earlier, his mother was reported as saying she realised her son was missing while climbing the stairs up to their third-floor apartment unit on the way back from a park at around noon.
Police have classified his death as murder.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the autopsy found ligature marks on his neck and body.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
