JOHOR BARU: Segamat became the second district in Johor affected by floods after two flood victims at relief centres (PPS) were opened at 2 pm today.
State secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said two relief centres in Segamat were accommodated 83 flood victims from 25 families so far.
The State Disaster Management Committee chairman said the relief centres are at Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak and Balai Raya Kampung Jabi.
"The Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak accommodates 17 residents from Kampung Seberang Batu Badak, comprising four families, while the Balai Raya Kampung Jabi shelters eight individuals from Kampung Sermin," he said in a media statement today.
He said the number of flood victims in Kampung Orang Asli Mersing remained at 83 people from 25 families who are still at the Taman Negara Endau Rompin Complex since 6pm yesterday.
"This means the total number of flood victims in Johor is 108 people from 30 families as of 2pm today."
According to him, the access road to Kampung Orang Asli Peta remains cut off, and authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a storm with lightning forecast in the districts of Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat and Pontian, while a continuous rain alert remains in Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Baru.
Reports from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) said Sungai Sayong in Kulai exceeded its danger level, while the Sungai Lenik in Segamat and Sungai Skudai in Johor Baru surpassed their cautionary levels.
Sungai Simpang Kanan and Sungai Sembrong in Batu Pahat have exceeded their alert levels.
All districts in Johor have reported rain except Kota Tinggi, which was cloudy, and Muar, which was having clear weather as of 2pm today.
