KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirmed that federal and state government agencies are collaborating closely to prioritise the welfare of flood victims.
In a recent Facebook post, he said upon arriving in Kota Baru, Kelantan, he was immediately given a briefing regarding the latest developments in the flood situation and the operations of the security forces.
He was accompanied by Kelantan menteri besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) director-general Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus.
"The briefing also detailed the problems faced, operational challenges, and victim status in the temporary evacuation centre, in addition to providing assistance to those affected by the disaster.
"I then went to the Lubok Jong Bridge, Pasir Mas, to assess the flood impact and observe measures being taken to address the issue in the area.
"During the visit, I also stopped by the Temporary Transfer Centre (PPS) at SMK (A) Lati, Kampung Banggol Manok, to hear for myself the problems faced by the flood victims stationed in the concerned school," he said.
He said the Federal Government is committed to closely monitoring the situation, ensuring proper shelter for flood victims, and working to alleviate the devastating impact of the flood disaster.
