RANTAU PANJANG: A total of 32 people from Kampung Bendang Perol, here, were the latest flood victims to be evacuated this morning.
The victims who were from seven families, were evacuated to the SK Gual Tok Deh flood relief centre at 8.15am.
The school was the second flood relief centre to open in Kelantan, the first being SM Beris Panchor in Bachok which opened yesterday.
The latest of 32 victims brings the number of flood victims evacuated so far to 76.
Meanwhile, a villager from Kampung Bendang Perol, Hassan Setapa, 58, said he and his family began to pack their belongings yesterday evening.
"It is normal for us to move to SK Gual Tok Deh every time the yearly flood hits our village," he said.
Like him, Setapa said the other six families who live in the same village, have been making earlier preparations including bringing their vehicles and other important documents to safety.
Another villager Norasila Abdul Majid, 29, said the village has been inundated by 1m of floodwater following heavy rains since Friday.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) yesterday issued an alert-level continuous rain warning for Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang effective until Nov 29.
In a statement today, MetMalaysia said the warning covers the entire state of Terengganu, Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai) and Pahang (Jerantut, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin).
A similar warning has also been issued for Tuesday to Friday, covering Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik and Baling), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran and Bera), Perak (Hulu Perak) and Kelantan (Gua Musang).
