Former Inland Revenue CEO Sabin appointed Kota Kinabalu mayor

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah has been appointed Kota Kinabalu mayor.

The 63-year-old from Ranau takes over from Datuk Norliza Awang Alip.

He is the state capital's seventh mayor since it was elevated to city status 23 years ago.

Among the posts Sabin has held were as director-general of the National Anti-Financial Crime Centre in the Prime Minister's Department and chief executive officer of the Inland Revenue Board.

Present at a brief ceremony where Sabin received his official appointment via a letter from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor were state Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir and State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong.
