KUALA LUMPUR: The vendor who refused to sell ice cream to an Indian family has come forward to apologise over alleged racial bias in an incident that took place in Pantai Remis, Kuala Selangor.
TikTok user @preeyanka23 had earlier aired her grievance over the matter.
She later uploaded an update to her account to share that the seller had since made a public apology in a video posting.
She also said that she hopes Malaysians irrespective of their background will not condone any racial discrimination moving forward even if it is within their community.
"He addressed me and I fully accept his apology," said Preeyanka.
"I hope this will be a lesson to everybody who owns a business. Please kindly put aside racism, racist remarks and stereotypes when conducting a business."
Meanwhile, Selangor Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) youth committee secretary Sri Vijayandrakumar said the matter had been straightened out.
The comment shared by Facebook user Visvanathan Somasundaram on a New Straits Times post read: "I would like to clarify that the matter is resolved.
"The seller has apologised over his behaviour and has promised not to repeat it."
On Saturday (Feb 10), a woman complained of discrimination when an ice cream vendor on a motorcycle refused to sell ice cream to her family.
However, a Malay family's thoughtfulness in helping to buy ice cream for several children in Pantai Remis, Kuala Selangor earned praise from netizens.
