PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will announce the details of the new remuneration scheme for civil servants when he tables the 2025 Budget in October.
In revealing this, unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil praised the pay hike for government servants.
"It was a positive announcement... the last time, it was an increase of about 13 per cent, but the Madani government was committed to having an increase that was more than that this time.
"At the same time, the prime minister has also given his commitment to private sector workers in some 1,000 local companies that a progressive wage policy will be implemented with an allocation of RM50 million through the Economy Ministry, starting in June," he told reporters after the national Labour Day celebration here.
Following the announcement, said Fahmi, this year will see a relatively significant increase in salaries in both the public and private sectors.
The communications minister also praised the nation's 16.5 million workforce, saying that today's announcement could not have been realised without them.
"Whatever funds were saved (due to the efforts of the workforce) should and must be returned to the people in the form of better salaries and higher allowances... this is what the government fights for," he said.
