KUALA KUBU BAHARU: Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional have both cried foul over the use of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia's pictures on a sports utility vehicle (SUV), which was allegedly being driven around here yesterday.
Apart from His Majesty's pictures, the green-coloured SUV was also decorated with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's photo, as well as PH and Johor state flags.
PH's election director for Kuala Kubu Baharu Ng Sze Han denied that the SUV was one of its own.
"We are shocked by this. It has nothing to do with our campaign team," he said in a short reply to the New Straits Times.
Based on pictures sighted by the NST, the SUV had at least three wooden flag poles bearing the PH flag.
There were at least four pictures of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, placed on the right, left and at the rear of the truck.
A large photo of Sultan Ibrahim was also placed above the cabin, beneath which was a picture of Anwar.
Numerous Johor flags and the Jalur Gemilang were also placed on the roof and hood of the vehicle.
Earlier, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's associate wing chief Dr Chong Fat Full in a press conference urged the Election Commission to investigate the matter.
He said PN members spotted the car at about 5.40pm yesterday, and immediately lodged a police report at the Kuala Kubu Baharu police station.
"This should not be happening. They are using the King's picture as if it is related to PH, a political party. Did they get His Majesty's permission?
"We hope all parties campaign fairly and with morals. We must respect the King and not use his photos. Using the prime minister's pictures is fine, because he is a politician.
"We've been told that the police have detained two men. We are not pointing fingers at anyone, and we hope that the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation," he said.
