Police waiting for forensic report on fire that destroyed 30 ride-on children's cars

ALOR STAR: Police are waiting for a forensic report from the Fire and Rescue Department to establish if there was foul play in the blaze that destroyed 30 ride-on children's cars near Kampung Baru here, earlier today.

Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Siti Nor Salawati Saad said the electric vehicles were already engulfed in flames when an eyewitness reported the incident at 4.12am.

"Upon arrival, firefighters and policemen found that the ride-on children's car storage area was engulfed in flames. They were able to extinguish the fire by 5.30am.

"We are waiting for the full report from the Fire and Rescue Department," she said, when contacted today.

She added that an eyewitness saw the fire while heading to the market and immediately called the Fire and Rescue Department.

"Almost 70 per cent of the ride-on children's car storage area was razed. The total damage and cause of the fire have not yet been ascertained. No injuries were reported."

Earlier today, it was reported that 30 ride-on children's cars were destroyed in an early morning fire at a premises next to a hotel near Kampung Baru.

Alor Star Fire and Rescue Station deputy chief Ahmad Naufal Abdullah said that investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
