KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today paid tribute to Malaysia's teachers, whom he said play a crucial role in shaping the minds of future generations.

In his Teacher's Day message, he said the development of a successful generation is a shared goal.

"Happy Teacher's Day to all educators and teachers for their tireless efforts in nation-building.

"Naturally, in the context of shaping the future of our young, the commitment, role and guidance of teachers are of paramount importance.

"It cannot be denied that the national education system must be continuously improved to ensure that everyone has equal access in our bid to acquire knowledge and higher morals.

"The goal of creating successful generations is a goal shared by all, not just by educators," he said in a statement.

Anwar expressed his thanks to the country's teachers and said there must be a collaborative effort, especially in the bid to produce the next generation of successful, compassionate and respectable individuals.
