Ulu Tiram police station attack: "Wait for me to come back", friend's last words

TAPAH: Friends of the late Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar never expected his last words, "wait for me to come back," during a recent video call, would be followed by the tragic return of his remains instead.

Mohammad Fakhrul Syakirin Mohd Yusoff, 19, shared that Ahmad Azza Fahmi, 22, affectionately known as Ami, often told his group of friends to wait for his return to their hometown here.

"We were supposed to join a convoy up to the north of the peninsula next month," he told Bernama at the late constable's residence here today.

"We always had plans to ride motorcycles or vacation on islands. The last time we convoyed was two years ago, to Melaka before he joined the force for training. We also went bowling in Ipoh (the nearest bowling centre) because he loved to bowl," he said.

Another friend, Syafiq Aiman Ab Halim, 23, sorrowfully said that he would miss waiting for his friend to return home for the holidays.

"Whenever he came back to the village, Ami would sleep over at my house. He usually returned after work and would arrive in Bidor at 4 in the morning... Maybe he didn't want to disturb his family because his parents worked the next day," he reminisced.

Syafiq, who is self-employed, said he had no problem waiting for his friend's return every time.
