Student pushes referee in MSSD football match in Kedah

KUALA LUMPUR: A student allegedly pushed a referee from behind in a scuffle during a District School Sports Council (MSSD) Football championship match in Kubang Pasu.

A viral video on social media showed the scuffle that broke out between the players of two competing teams. One of the students pushed the referee from behind.

The situation turned chaotic as the referee became furious and tried to chase after the student, while several players from the same team tried to push, kick, and punch the referee.

However, some people at the scene managed to calm the situation and pacify the referee.

The incident caught the attention of the Kedah Football Association (KFA), which is aware of the incident. It is awaiting a full report from the state Education Department before taking further action.

KFA Disciplinary Committee chairman Mohd Farhan Ahmad told Harian Metro that the organiser of the championship, which is the Kedah Education Department will submit a report about what happened.

"This raises awareness about how the younger generation nowadays easily resort to violence without considering the consequences for their team.

"The KFA Disciplinary Committee will ensure that any decision made is fair and just.

"We urge others not to make any speculation before a decision is announced," he said.
