Kedah floods persist,  1,384 evacuees sheltering in relief centres

ALOR STAR: The number of flood victims in Kedah has risen to 1,384 from 444 families as of 4pm today, compared to 1,359 from 436 families at 8am this morning.

According to the Social Welfare Department Disaster Information mobile application, one temporary flood relief centre (PPS) in Kubang Pasu has been closed, leaving 10 centres still in operation.

Pokok Sena remains the district with the highest number of evacuees, with 737 individuals from 233 families seeking shelter at five PPS. 

In Kota Setar, 411 individuals from 129 families are taking refuge at three PPS, while 236 individuals from 82 families in Kubang Pasu are still housed in two PPS. 

As of 4pm, the Public Infobanjir website reported that several rivers had exceeded dangerous levels. 

Sungai Padang Terap in Kepala Batas, Kubang Pasu, recorded 9.17 metres, surpassing the danger level of 9.14 metres, while Sungai Bata in Kampung Bata, Kubang Pasu, stood at 4.15 metres, above the danger level of 3.8 metres.
