Man burnt to death in three-vehicle crash on Kulai highway

KULAI: A man was burned to death, while his two passengers were severely injured in a three-vehicle collision on Km 33.3 of the Plus Highway (southbound), here, last night.

The victim who is yet to be identified, a 32-year-old woman and a one-year-old boy were traveling in the Perodua Myvi, when it crashed into a Scania trailer laden with sand, and a Proton Iswara in the 11.24pm accident.

Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Mohd Khairil Buang said the deceased was pinned to his seat, while passers-by helped his passengers out before the Myvi burst into flames.

The two passengers aged 18 and 22 in the Iswara were also injured while the lorry driver escaped with minor injuries.

Khairil said upon their arrival at 11.53pm, the Myvi was engulfed in flames and was almost 80 per cent destroyed.

Six firefighters deployed to the scene removed the charred body in the burnt Myvi and handed it to the police to facilitate investigations, while the remaining survivors were rushed to the hospital.

The operation concluded at 2.09am today.
