Couple killed after car driving against traffic rams motorcycle

ALOR GAJAH: A house builder had his arms and legs severed after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car on Jalan Bukit Hantu, Rembia, here.

In the 7.50pm incident, S. R. Muthusamy, 67, died at the scene while his wife, S. Manomani, 57, who was riding pillion passed away while receiving treatment at Alor Gajah Hospital.

Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the accident occurred while the couple was on their way from Lendu heading towards Alor Gajah to return home in Taman Wira Mas, Lubok China.

He said initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred when a Proton Saga car, occupied by two public university students, entered the opposite lane before colliding with the victims' motorcycle.

"As a result of the accident, the rider, Muthusamy, was confirmed dead at the scene due to injuries to his head, legs, and arms, while his wife, a factory worker, was confirmed dead at Alor Gajah Hospital when receiving treatment," he said.

Ashari said the 20-year-old car driver was injured and treated in the Green Zone while the 22-year-old passenger was uninjured.

"The bodies of both victims were handed over to Alor Gajah hospital forensic unit for autopsy to determine the cause of death," he said.
