ISKANDAR PUTERI: A child was found drowned at the Gelang Patah Jetty, Kampung Dapur Arang Jetty here, this evening.
Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue station operation commander Saifulizam Salleh said his team received an emergency call regarding the incident at 5pm.
He said the victim, identified as Nur Aqisyah Abdullah, 10, was reported to have fallen into the river while playing at the edge of the jetty during rain.
"Upon receiving the emergency call, nine firefighters from the Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the scene and arrived at 5.08pm.
"A search and rescue operation was conducted at the scene, which is at the Kampung Dapur Arang Jetty.
"After four hours of the operation, the victim was found at 9.07pm earlier tonight.
"The victim's body was found at the bottom of the river at a depth of three meters.
"The position where the victim was found was five meters from the last seen location at 9.07pm," he said in a statement today.
