KOTA KINABALU: Continuous rain since this morning resulted in a tree falling and crushing a parked car in Taman Ujana Tropika near the National Department for Culture and Arts here today (July 2).
However, the 10.30am incident did not cause any injuries.
State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre assistant chief Riki Mohan Singh Ramday said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 10.47am.
"The operation to cut and remove the fallen tree was handled by Kota Kinabalu City Hall before the fire brigade arrived.
"The fire brigade then conducted an inspection to ensure that there were no further hazards at the scene," he said today.
In Papar, a durian tree fell and crushed the kitchen of a house in Kampung Takis Papar this morning.
Riki Mohan said the 9.30am incident also did not lead to any injuries.
He said a Fire and Rescue Department team responded immediately upon receiving an emergency call at 9.35am.
"The house's roof was found damaged due to the incident.
"The fire brigade used chainsaws to cut the fallen tree and relocated it to a safe area."
