Empower NCER academic initiative boots Langkawi SPM results

LANGKAWI: The empower NCER-Akademik (EIA) programme implemented by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) has significantly boosted the performance of students in the 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination on this island.

Langkawi District Officer, Mohamad Subhi Abdullah, said the programme was instrumental not only in increasing the number of students passing the examination but also in helping them achieve excellent results.

"A total of 200 students under the EIA programme from five schools in Langkawi passed their 2023 SPM examination.

"Of these, 24 students obtained 5As and above.

"This is a significant leap compared to just 103 students under the programme who passed the SPM exams the previous year," he said after attending the EIA Appreciation Ceremony here today.

Present were Kedah NCIA manager Zairemy Mohd Yunus, Langkawi District Education Office deputy officer Rohaizar Othman and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) representative Dr Mohamad Asmawi Ibrahim.

During the event, Subhi presented an appreciation letter and RM300 cash award to Nur Fatin Nabilah Rosnizam, 18, who scored 10As in her 2023 SPM examination.

Fatin, the daughter of a security guard, expressed her gratitude to NCIA and UniSZA for organising the EIA programme which had helped her to score excellent result in her SPM exams.

The eldest child of four, who wants to become a teacher, said she is still waiting for an offer to further her studies.
